Two Undergrad Research Teams Going to China this Summer
Dr. Jing Tan (Social Work) and Dr. Chien Wen Yu (Management) have been selected to conduct research abroad with their students this summer. Dr. Tan will travel to Shanghai in May with BSU students Stefanie Carreiro, Deana Andrade, Jolee Griffin, and Juliann Manning to research aging populations in China and conduct needs assessments of elder care. Dr. Yu and
four of his students will study high-speed rail in Beijing this July, examining issues of technology, economics, and politics in that “green energy” industry. Both research teams will spend three weeks in China, staying in university housing at BSU partner institutions Shanghai Normal University and Beijing Jaotong University, respectively, conducting surveys and analyzing data, and eventually presenting their research findings at BSU’s Undergraduate Research Symposium and other conferences in the U.S. The research trips will be funded by BSU’s Division of External Affairs and the Adrian Tinsley Program for undergraduate research.
